It all comes down to this

After days of sleepless nights and cramming, I've finally reached my deadlines and finished all my submission. I'm really not sold on how this term went by for me and its 101% my fault.
I procrastinated like MAJOR. I did everything at the very last minute, and i mean that literally like LAST MINUTE. I barely made every deadline and even though i did my final projects ended not up to par in short crappy, well kinda not all of them. My point is, I know that i could've done them alot better if only I take my time to actually do them and not just whip something up hours before submission.
I need to change this, hopefully. I'm almost half-way through my course term and there is no way I can go through the remaining terms if i continue being like this.

what i need: INSPIRATION. and lots of it.

If there's one thing I miss the most about commute in the Philippines...

Not having to wait 50 mins just to get a ride for a 20 min trip.

Okay so this is just a test blog entry, kinda? If it does work then yeaa it is an official entry already. Anyway, I googled how to send blog posts from my phone. All I need to do is just send my post as an email then send it to the email I set up in my blogger. This would be awesome I can now blog from anywhere. Yay!

FAILED ATTEMPT

to go on a diet...again.

I do have weight issues, i must admit. Though I know that im not "FAT" fat, but still i do feel FAT most of the time (I didn't make myself any clearer on that right?) I went through alot of fad diets, some hella crazy ones that I dun even wanna go back to, but hey they worked out for me though since I lost all the weight I gained since I got here in Canada. BUT THEN CHRISTMAS came, all the holiday shiii got me lost track and so I GAINED all the weight I worked my ass off to lose in just a matter of weeks. Frustrating I know, and so I decided to go on a cabbage soup diet. It's a 7 day diet of just cabbage soup obviously plus all-you-can-eat fruits and veggies. NAAAY cool i know. My mom kept on warning me that this diet is really hardcore that I might eventually feel weak or something but I said I can pull it through still. SO day 1 went by, and mom was right I felt dizzy all through out the day cos all I ate was just apples. Day 2 went by pretty smoothly though I kinda cheated cos I ate omelette during the day but still compensated it cos all I ate was the soup and man its really BLAND :( and the day 3 came, it was cool from morning till late afternoon even though all i had was the soup and apples again but then the evening ruined it all. My mom bought pecadillo chocolates w/c is hella good and maaaaan it was so hard to resist so I couldn't help myself but to eat one...or maybe 2? teeeheeee. AND SO I FAILED with that shiii diet. start over again tmrw. FOOOO REAAAL THIS TIME!!

Global Warming

So the other day I was looking through my previous school's website just to check out what's been happening and update myself with the latest stuffs going on there. Then I went off to check my program's site (Multimedia Arts and Sciences) I don't remember having that back when I was still there but I think maybe because our program was fairly new back then and wasn't quite that much established across the institute. Anyway, I browsed through the students works section to see what new projects they've been doing down there. Most of the works I saw were from students of the same batch as I am and my friends too. To my surprise, they also posted the work I did for my Illustrator class, I think? It's this global warming poster we had to do. It feels good to actually look back and see the previous works you've done and see how much you've grown and developed as a designer. And also the fact that even if i'm not enrolled in that school anymore and they still recognize as part of their school is really awesome, minus the part that misspelled my name wrong.it's Justine with an E people.
Just a side note on global warming, we OBVIOUSLY can feel and see the signs of it now. Not just here in Vancity, or canada but across the globe as well. Should we still wait for worse scenarios or do our part now?

BACK.

FINALLY. I was able to open my blogger account!

Over the past week, I wasn't able to open it because I forgot which email ad I used for this account which made me realize I need to organize the email ads I signed up for and pick just one...or maybe two? I need one that I can use for professional purposes in the future.

Pencil on paper.

This is the self portrait exercise we did back in my drawing class last summer term. It took me awhile to finish this but I must admit I surprisingly enjoyed doing this. Back then, I would NEVER thought i'd be able to do something like this, not ever. The fulfillment I felt when i saw the finish piece is just priceless. I guess sometimes we ourselves underestimate our own capabilities. We often times jump into conclusions that we can't do such things without even trying. Heck, there's no harm in trying. If you don't get it the first time, then there's always the second..or maybe the third? Anyway just put your mind into it, trust that you CAN do it.

Through the black and white lens

It feels good to step back from all this fast pacing technology,
easy-go stuffs and go back to the basics.

These are some of my shots from my basic black and white photography class back in the Philippines. I used a beat up old school SLR camera that i got for like less than 50$ i think and it was my first time too to actually use one. It's actually harder but pretty neat because you have to really use your eye and gut to be able to take a good photograph unlike when you use digital you often times just rely on default settings. So anyway i kinda feel bad for selling that vintage camera, i hope i could still snag one again once i get back to the Philippines.

OMG! art and veggie?

I have this really close friend i have back at home who shares the same appreciation and passion for art with me, well actually i must say he's even more passionate about it than me that he would often times send me links and pictures of artworks that he find interesting. Whether it maybe things he saw off the internet or pictures of the actual artworks he has seen. One in particular is the art gallery he and his friends discovered on their out of town trip in Baguio, a beautiful city situated on top of a plateau. The name of the place is Oh My Gulay!(gulay meaning vegetable). Owned by an artist name Kidlat Tahimik, Oh My Gulay is an art gallery and a restaurant as well who serves vegetarian food. Quite an odd combination eh? Oh My Gulay has now become one of the popular attractions in Baguio not only because of their good food but also because of the remarkable artworks that are displayed, even the interior of the place is an artwork itself. And for me the thing that makes it even more special is the dedication and passion of the local artists which is reflected in the place. I would definitely love to experience not only an awesome treat for my palate but most importantly a unique artistic sight as well.

Get on the LRT!

Well skytrain as you might call it here in vancouver, but back where im from we call it LRT or Light Rail Transit.
I was on my way home on the skytrain coming from friday class when i remembered the first time i took transit by myself back in the Philippines...accidentally. My dad wanted to teach me how to commute to school faster by just taking the train instead of going through hustles of traffic. So he took me one day before going to school. We arrived at the station just as the doors was about to close so my dad and i rushed in and tried to still make it. I managed to get in but then the doors closed just before my dad was about to get in. The train left leaving my dad at the station and me alone inside the train, well not really alone because the train was literally packed with people because of the morning rush. I was so scared that i might miss the stop, you could really see it in my face that even the people beside noticed how nervous i am that they even offered me a seat! I eventually managed to get off at the next stop then waited for my dad there. From then on, i was able to take transit every single day by MYSELF.

#1 Get on the skytrain from end to end!
